I just filled up this sketchbook, so I thought I'd share some of it.

I don't know what makes me think an old 70's Corolla looks cool, but it does.

Terminator

Here is my attempt on that terminator girl from that Terminator show. I inked it, scanned it, then colored it in Prismacolor markers, then scanned it again. I am happy with the inking job (something I've been working to improve), but I think the color marker job ruins it. I worked and worked on the likeness, but I still didn't get it at all. I still like the drawing enough to post it though.

I noticed today that big jerk Tom Richmond is trying to make me look bad by posting a better likeness of this same girl AND posting it before I posted mine. I think he's out to get me.

More DS

I know I haven't posted anything artwork up in a looong time and I haven't done any Code 11 in a looong time. I have been super lazy and that's not really a good excuse but its true. As a result I haven't drawn anything worth looking at in a while. I HAVE been bringing my Nintendo DS everywhere though and learning stuff about the colors around me. Here's some DS sketches. This thing is really nice to have. These are about 10-20 minutes each.

So I will get out of my self-induced rut and make better stuff to look at. Apologies to Aaron Philby, who is the guy that reads Code 11.

Dan Hay!

Just to make you all jealous, I thought I would share a couple of my favorite caricatures that I have from that weirdo Dan Hay. Please let me know how jealous you are.

But there is hope for the rest of you. I saw that Dan's new book of Blubberlubber artwork just went on sale today! Go check it out at Art Squared Publishing. Op De Beeck just put his new Famous Corpses book up there too. I have been waiting for both of these forever.

Nintendo DS

I just got a Nindendo DS and loaded the Colors! program on it. It's a lot of fun to sketch on and a really nice tool to carry around. I just got the hardware today to load the program and did this little sketch from a picture in a magazine.



I'm still figuring out all the in's and out's of loading up your pictures. There's a way to get playback video's of your sketches, but I haven't figured that out yet.

Sketchbook

Here is a sketch of an old Toyota FJ I saw in a magazine. Look for a colored version of this soon.


The other day I found a shark book at home that I forgot I had. So I did these.

Charger SRT-8

So a friend of mine bought this awesome car you see here and asked if I could draw a caricature of it for him. I don't know how I haven't drawn this car before. That SRT division does a pretty good job, I think. So I started working on this a while ago and ended up spending way too long on it. I probably spent more time on crappy sketches than I did on the final product. But I finally finished everything this weekend. Thats my official excuse for being late on the newest Code 11 installment. But I will have one up in a day or two, I promise.


Anyway here's what the car looks like.


Here are some of the sketches I did, trying to work out in my head what the car should look like.


I had an idea of what I wanted the final to look like.


Here I have most of the details worked out for the final. Getting to this point from that other sketch took me a while. Getting it to look like a Charger instead of a generic box on wheels was tough.

A lot of the time when drawing cars, I find a cool photo I like, and just draw from that . This one was an idea I had, so getting everything right was a bit more difficult. I googled lots of pictures and videos of drift races as reference.


Here is the final product using ink and watercolor on arches.


Ater I was done I was still thinking about one of the small sketches I had done in the beginning (you can see it above) and I wanted to see that one done too. Plus, even though the first one had the action I wanted, it wasn't showing off the rims. This one went a lot quicker for me because it was drawn more directly from a photo reference than the first one.


When my friend told me he was bringing his car to a car show this weekend and displaying my artwork with his car, I threw this together to have some postcards printed up. I would love to draw people's awesome cars all the time.

The Ol' Canadian Goose Job

Here are some early sketches I did for a some little biker club. These sketches are as far as I got because that project never really took off. In other words, after they saw these they never spoke to me again. Don't ask me about the goose, I never understood the idea. But it was fun while it lasted.
