The Drawers Block

Here's a lil something I did for The Drawers Block blog, just a place Dan Hay put together to find fun faces of artists to draw, or submit photos if you wanna get drawn. Check it out and submit some stuff! All the cool people are doing it! Also me.

This was brush pen and watercolor.

The Audubon

I went with a group to this great place called the Audubon where my friend Maria volunteers. Its a shelter for birds of prey.

There is always a special challenge when drawing animals live. It is difficult because most of the time the animal wont stay still, but I find i come out with more interesting sketches for that very same reason. The ones down below were drawn with pen on 3x11 paper. It's something I saw Steve Silver do years ago at a caricature convention, and I always liked the idea. You can click on 'em for larger views.

Sketchbook dump

I always like to carry a small sketchbook with me when I go to work. And as is my custom, when I fill one up, I like to compile my favorites and show them here.

These are just quick sketches of people I see walking around.

These were done for basic ink practice. This is what it looks like in front of each stand I work(ed) at.

This is just some random-ness

This is my personal favorite. It isn't often I manage to be clever, so I'm kinda proud of this one. Plus making fun of myself is always fun.

Practice on watercolor

The Nissan Cube is a cool concept, but when you see it in real life, it looks just plain silly.

These are just based in some random photos. I wanted to try out some watercolor over light pencil work. I haven't decided how I feel about it yet.

Dr Sketchy

Well I haven't been to a Dr. Sketchy in a while, and had the opportunity tonight. These are 10 minute sketches. Drawn with a ballpoint pen, markers, and a little colored pencil.
